Cost Accountant

A vacancy currently exists in our Devonport plant for a talented and enthusiastic individual to move into the role of Cost Accountant for a 1 year fixed term contract. Reporting to the Plant Accountant, you will provide the base level of account preparation encompassing both actual and forecast data, whilst analysing detailed workings of the operation with product costing being the primary focal point.
Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Preparing and reporting on manufacturing variances, including route cause analysis
- Supporting the preparation of weekly/monthly reports by providing comprehensive analysis of financial data
- Monitoring daily production results and relevant shop floor information incorporating analysis of relevant variances
- Assisting in the establishment of product costings
- Maintaining a standard costing system, including detailed analysis of related variances
- Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Assisting with the compilation of annual budgets, strategic planning and assorted forecasting requirements
- Assisting in the planning and evaluation of capital expenditure proposals
- Provide support in relation to ad hoc financial and site issues.
You will have demonstrated experience within a similar accounting role ideally within a manufacturing environment, accompanied with relevant Accounting tertiary qualifications. Strong organisational and communication skills are essential as well as the ability to work in a dynamic team environment. Sound computer skills with relevant experience in using MS Office is also well regarded. You will also have a strong attention to detail and excellent problem solving skills.
